The LFCF Holiday “Adopt a Family” Program…
We just completed our annual Holiday “Adopt a Family” program – a program created to address the increased needs of children and families around the holidays. (See some of our latest photos below.)
Just prior to the Holidays, principals of the nine schools identify families with potential needs. Those needs are then confirmed by school staff. After confirmation of need, “Wish Lists” are gathered from each family.
LFCF volunteers collect donated gifts, necessities and food to address the families’ holiday “wishes”. (No part of the LFCF’s monetary fund is used for this program.)
Family wishes include modest items, such as laundry detergent and diapers. Numerous LFCF “elves” meet weeks prior to the Holidays to compile the gifts for distribution. Volunteers both young and old, collect donations and then purchase gifts for the families, learning the importance of giving back.
The experience is as moving for LFCF volunteers as it is for the the families in need.
